The Red Dot Sight (RDS) is a reflex sight that appears in every Modern Combat game since Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus. It uses a red light emitting diode (LED) at the focus of a curved mirror, producing a red spot reticle as a precise aiming point.

Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus[]

The Red Dot Sight makes its debut in Modern Combat 2, attached to the MN106 Red Dot, R.D.S, Ret Dot Camo, and C.R.D.S models in the campaign, and the Red Dot in multiplayer. The Red Dot Sight replaces the weapon's iron sights, allowing for faster target acquisition, and offering a clearer aiming point. Interestingly, the Red Dot Sight, while labelled as such in-game, is actually a Holographic sight.

Campaign[]

It is occasionally seen on the Bravel-1, and the player can find it on the MC81 rarely in the campaign. The RDS no longer resembles the Holographic sight, now being a completely different attachment.

Multiplayer[]

In multiplayer, the Red Dot Sight is available for all Assault rifles, shotguns, Light Machine Guns and submachine guns for 2000 credits. The red dot sight has a slim frame and a small dot, making it more useful than the holographic sight for closer-range combat. In addition the RDS is now affected by glare, occasionally making the sight appear opaque. The red dot sight is popular online because it is clearer and easier to use than standard Iron sights and cheaper than the Holographic Sight.

The Compact RDS is the Schoc 33-version of the Red Dot. It has exactly the same reticle and appearance as the Red Dot, but with a slightly different fixing method.

The Red Dot in Modern Combat 5 is available as the first sight to be unlocked for most weapon classes (aside from sniper rifles, launchers, and modular weapons). Similar to its counterparts in previous games, it provides increased zoom while aiming down the scope, giving it an advantage over iron sights.
