The KR-15 is the Tier 5 short-barrel rifle of the Sapper class. It is an assault rifle featuring moderate damage, great accuracy, and a very high rate of fire at close to 600 RPM, the highest in the assault rifle and short-barrel rifle weapon classes (rivaled only by the Stacker) and nearly matching that of submachine guns. Coupled with its solid damage, the KR-15 is quite effective in close-mid range gunfights. However the high RPM results in major recoil when hip-firing, making the weapon more difficult to control than the HS-414. Performance of the gun also decreases dramatically as range increases. Aiming down the sights or moving towards a target while firing helps to mitigate the recoil a bit.
Comparison with other weapons[]
The KR-15 is a popular choice among Sapper players due to its versatile performance and unrivaled rate of fire. Along with the WES, Stacker, and V.L.I.-35, it is considered among the top-tier weapons of the Sapper class.
In comparison to the WES, the KR-15 has faster rate-of-fire, slightly higher accuracy and a better reload speed. While the WES has a longer range, higher armor penetration, and larger clip size.
On the whole, the smoother handling of WES and better armor penetration may make it favored in higher-leagues. Nevertheless, the KR-15 is still a viable substitute.
Comparing the KR-15 with assault rifles, the KR is slightly outperformed on the whole by the the KOG V or the PR39. However, as the Sapper has access to powerful turrets, a good player can utilize them to increase his firepower.
