Contest Results

Well here I am fighting the hangover to write a blog post... I hope you all had a good New Year's Eve and I wish you the best in 2017!

A year ago, I started a contest, which would end yesterday. The results are below:

To be honest I expected a lot more votes, but let's put that aside.

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour was the first game in the series in which we could play the antagonist. Edward Page, who we knew already from MC3, was a very interesting character. We also got Anderson's perspective of the story. The player follows him through an apocalyptic Seattle as well as his very final mission in Antarctica. MC4 was also the game in which Everett Saunders was introduced. Although not playable, his character forms the essential connection betwee…

Spoilers

I made a new spoiler template, it can be seen in action on the Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour article or on any of the pages in this list: special:WhatLinksHere/template:spoiler.

As you can see, spoiling parts are now covered by a black box. Move over it with your cursor to show the text. On tablets, just tap the block.

If you're having any problems with or suggestions about this feature, please let me know so I can improve it.

On leaving the community

So, as some people may have noticed, the Twitter account @modern_combat has been put to sleep for a bit. I (ijeremy5252) have run the account for the past two-and-a-half years, but due to me becoming too busy I don’t have enough free time to maintain it. I have made the decision to leave the iOS gaming community, and have transferred the Twitter handle to Gameloft.

As for the future of the account, I have no idea what Gameloft will do with it. I mentioned the widget here on this wiki, and they thought it okay to keep it. I can’t make any guesses as to what will become of it.

Alright, I think that’s it. I guess this is my goodbye to the wiki (though I really haven’t been on here much for the past year). Wish you luck with keeping the wiki up …

InfoboxBuilder update

Some people may remember that I announced a major update for the infoboxes on this wiki. After hours and hours of coding and testing, there was a strange line through the image, as you still can see on the page. I cancelled the complete project.

Now, four months later, I started working with InfoboxBuilder. With this relatively new extention, my project could finally be established. I created the CSS for the new infoboxes, and they are almost the same as the previous ones. (EDIT: after some testing, the appearance of the boxes has further been simplified.) Except these infoboxes are way faster than the wikitext/ParserFunctions-based ones.

Plus, the image added to the box will automatically be resized (keeping the resolution, thus rendering i…

Wiki colour

As many of you will already have noticed, the wiki theme has changed from green to orange. No, the Netherlands did not win the world cup, it is to match the theme of Modern Combat 5. Also, all colours IN the articles will be darker for easier reading.

Do you like it? Please write your reactions, opinions, suggestions etc. in the comments!

Phantom Unit memorial

Until the release of Modern Combat 5: Blackout, the logo of Phantom Unit will stay on the background of the wiki.

So far, Phantom Unit has not been seen or heard in Modern Combat 5. But since there are 50 missions, and we have only seen less than the half of them, there is still a chanche...

Button style update

Finally!!! I struggled about a week to get the Edit button CSS style right and I finally did it!

Only the Contribute and the secondary Preview buttons are not perfect...

Special thanks to the Infinity Blade Wiki and the Dead Space Wiki for teaching me how to create it!
