The BSW 77 requires a large number of blueprints to unlock, at 25 total. Like the other bolt-action rifles, the BSW's one-shot kill power is unparalleled within the sniper rifle category, and can even one-shot kill the legs with higher-tier muzzles, making the BSW one of the deadliest weapons in the game for long-range combat. With the Hip Fire skill and crouching, the BSW can even repel close-range attackers effectively, however, missing a shot will prove to be troublesome. The BSW also has a much larger magazine capacity than any of the other bolt-action weapons, and even higher than some of the semi-automatic snipers, making reloads a rare occurrence, and reloads are also fairly swift, albeit not as swift as the semi-automatic rifles.
There are some severe downsides to the BSW. The BSW has a slow-rate of fire, being a bolt-action. While higher than the Aresk-07 and IMP-S, its rate of fire is still much slower than any of the other semi-automatic rifles. The BSW also requires 25 blueprints to unlock, which makes it one of the hardest to obtain.
Overall, the BSW 77 is a very powerful rifle, excelling at eliminating enemies at a single shot and at engaging enemies at a long-range. It also has a high mag capacity, and a fast reload. However, it is difficult to obtain, and bolt-action fire makes it much more dependent on accuracy than any of the semi-automatic rifles.
There has been a big change of the BSW's design after the forth update of Modern Combat 5. After the update, the BSW 77 now has a pistol grip and has its shoulder stock raised up to give the old, modified sniper rifle a more modern look.

- The BSW 77's appearance in its combat card lacks the scope. Also, when the player is killed by a user with the BSW, the scope is not found on the weapon during kill cam when they are running with it/walking with it. However, when the user scopes in with the BSW, the scope appears.
