The Airstrike is a Military Support reward available in Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour and Modern Combat 5: Blackout.

Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation Edit

Air Strike
MC3-Air Strike
EffectSends in an airstrike towards a random hostile on the map.
Kills required5
Cooldown1 Minute
Limit5 per match

The Airstrike makes its debut in Modern Combat 3, requiring five kills without dying (four with Field Specialist and three with Field Specialist Elite). It consists of a fast, low attack run by an F-22 Raptor, which will target and and drop a bomb on the area where the player has their crosshairs on. Prior to the update, the Airstrike would randomly bomb an area and didn't kill many people. But since to the 1.1.0 update, Airstrike have been improved by making the damage and radius larger and making them more precise. Airstrikes are unable to hit players who are indoors, thus making it nearly useless on maps which feature mostly indoor movement and combat, like Countdown.

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour Edit

Airstrike
MC4-Airstrike
EffectSends in an airstrike towards a random hostile on the map.
Kills required7
Calls an airstrike on a random enemy player location. The nearest jet fighter will be dispatched and deliver its payload with deadly accuracy. Requires 7 kills or captures.
—Official website description

The airstrike is one of two 7 kill/point streaks, along with the Ground Drone. It calls an jet (a fictional fighter, also featured in the campaign) to bomb a random enemy on the map. The dropping of the bomb is almost instantaneous, and it can also kill additional enemies if they are close enough to the initial target. Players have often experienced the airstrike not killing anyone, and sometime even killing the player that called it. With the specialisation skill Improved Strikes, the fighter can also scan the battlefield for a short amount of time, working similarly to a Recon Aircraft.

The Airstrike's deadliness can also be enhanced by equipping the Explosives Expert skill in the Demolition specialisation, which makes the airstrike have a 25% larger damage and radius. The Demolition specialisation also benefits from +50 XP when an enemy is killed via explosive.

It has become more precise compared to the random bombing of its predecessor.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout Edit

Kills required5

The airstrike is a support in multiplayer which requires 5 kills in a row to obtain. When used, the minimap will open and the player can swipe across a location for the airstrike to target, confirmed by tapping the airstrike icon that appears after the swipe. After a 3-4 second delay, an F-22 will fly in and drop 5 bombs in a straight line where the player has designated. The bombs can also kill players under cover, and will never damage the player who called it, even if dropped directly on their head.

Trivia Edit

  • The Airstrike in MC3 and MC5 is always an F-22 Raptor, regardless of which faction called it in. This is most likely a way to save memory.
